Desk Monitor & BookcaseOver the years as I’ve worked with clients I’ve come to learn that one of the things that people struggle most with is keeping their work space organized and clutter free.  It’s right up there with procrastination.  It starts small and then it builds into something that you just can’t seem to get rid of.  It can get to the point of you having an entire space full of clutter.  It’s definitely a formidable opponent and it will not only keep you frustrated, it can keep you from making money.

What most people don’t realize is that as the disorganization and clutter build up in the physical space, so does the energy that comes along with it. Everything is energy and clutter is no exception. If your office or work space is cluttered, you probably have client files, notes from conversations, that book that you started to or want to read, things that need to be filed, and bits and pieces of your personal life lying around in that space. What you also have present in that space is the energy that all of those unfinished bits and pieces bring with them.

Think about that for a moment. The files and notes that you have hanging out bring a stagnant energy to your space since you haven’t done anything with them. So do the books that you haven’t finished reading, and the unfinished or derailed projects on your desk. Some of these things bring other kinds of energy to your work space depending upon how they got there or why they’re lying around. Some things might be there just because you haven’t taken the steps to putting them away. No matter the reason, they bring negative, heavy energy to your space. The exact same kinds of energy build up in a disorganized space. When things don’t have a home, can’t be found or are lost in the shuffle, a particular kind of energy comes to the space.

Your office is your profitability space. This is the space that you come to daily to make things happen. This is the space where you create your products or programs to serve those you are here to serve. This is the physical space that you operate from to live out your entrepreneurial dream. Doing so becomes difficult when your space tells you that you can’t. You work on that new program or event, putting the best of your efforts into it. Sometimes you struggle with it due to the energy in the space. When it’s finally done, somehow it’s not what you intended or not as successful as you thought it would be. If your office is disorganized or cluttered, the space dictates that you can’t use it as you’re attempting to use it. The energy in the space doesn’t allow for you to create your profitability from it.

If your bottom line isn’t looking quite like you want it to, look at your office space. Is it disorganized or cluttered? When you look around do you see a well-organized space that works for you and supports you? What kinds of things are piling up? If you see that your space isn’t allowing for your profitability it’s time to shift the energy in your space. Start by putting away the things that are out of place. If your space isn’t supporting you, start to think about how it can be changed to help you be more productive and hire a professional to help you if necessary. Shift the energy in your space so that it allows you to build your business from it. The energy within it dictates your level of profit and your growth.
